A man upset his wife by purchasing 30 identical shirts, shorts, and pairs of underwear to wear his favorite outfit every day.
He and his wife have been in a disagreement about their clothing choices for some time. Both of them are very particular about their showering and dressing routines.
He showers two to three times daily, enjoying the refreshed feeling it provides, particularly during summer. He doesn’t wash his hair with every shower; instead, he opts for quick rinses to clean his body and stay invigorated.
“I always switch to fresh underwear after each shower, but I only change my shirt once a day and my pants every three days, regardless of how often I shower,” he explained.
“My wife takes a shower daily and consistently changes into a fresh outfit afterward.”
His wife finds it unappealing when he puts his shirt and shorts back on, considering them to be ‘dirty.’ She believes that he should change into fresh clothes after each shower. Consequently, whenever he reuses his clothes, she expresses her disapproval.
“I chose to purchase five identical outfits so that she wouldn’t notice if I changed my clothes,” he said.
“Initially, she considered it trivial but was not overly concerned. In fact, she even found it amusing at the start.”
After purchasing multiple versions of the same outfit, he discovered his preference for consistently wearing the same clothing.
Eliminating the daily stress of choosing an outfit, he appreciated having a dependable wardrobe that consistently fit him well.
Without informing his wife, he chose to revisit the store and purchase 30 pairs of identical shorts, 30 matching shirts, and 120 pairs of the same underwear. This way, he could consistently wear his favorite outfit.
He carefully selected a range of similar clothing items to ensure that his outfits appeared varied, making it difficult for others to notice he was repeating the same pieces. However, his wife was able to recognize the repetition.
“[My wife] suggested that I reconsider wearing that outfit for my own benefit,” he said.
I shared my excitement about being connected to those outfits. She puts significant effort into her clothing choices and suggested that my association might harm her image.
His wife’s criticism of his wardrobe caused many arguments, and now he feels her disapproval whenever he dresses.
