Mother-In-Law Demands Ex of Fiancé Attend Wedding, Calls Bride-to-Be a ‘Rebound Girl’ When She Objects

This couple of over four and a half years, 26 years old lady and her 36 years old fiancé Henry are planning to wed. She has not been happy with her future mother-in-law whose interference has made the wedding plans difficult.

Just to put things in perspective, Henry has always been the underrated one in his family. As the last born child, he was never able satisfy the dreams of his mum who wanted to have a girl.

Due to this fact, he has always felt that he is unloved by the mother who would say things like “From the beginning you were a disgraceful son” or “I never got my daughter”.

Rather than withdraw from him as they say, he has been trying hard to please her.

Before Henry started dating his current girlfriend, his ex was close to his mother and treated like a daughter.

However after cheating with one of her colleagues, the relationship ended.

Two years after, Henry met her and they have been in love ever since. During their relationship, Henry’s ex reached out, hoping for a chance to reconcile. Henry quickly dismissed this, clearly showing where his heart was headed.

“She explained, that even though they have parted ways; his mother and ex-girlfriend remain closely acquainted. My fiancé and I just avoid her,” she confessed.

Additionally, her strained relationship with her future mother-in-law causes more stress as she is not particularly fond of her at all. The mother is still bitter because she never had the ‘perfect daughter-in-law’ who was Henry’s previous partner.

Her fiancé has talked to his mother over and over again that he would rather be single for the rest of his life than go back to his ex-girlfriend again. Nevertheless, Henry’s mom remains fixated on his past love interest. She has even gone so far as to demand that they invite his ex-girlfriend to their wedding!

Just yesterday, her mother-in-law wanted to know how many people she can invite.

She could recalled saying, “Since my parents can accommodate eight to ten guests, you too should be able to do the same thing.”

Initially her mother-in-law was understanding and thanked her for it. Within an hour, she began to smile and make small talk. The first positive RSVP had just arrived – from Henry’s ex-girlfriend, who was also invited.

She insisted on him inviting his ex-girlfriend as it was totally wrong because none of them had any relationship with her or Henry for that matter.

“My mother in-law replied that the guest list is her business and has nothing to do with me either. She also said that I was insecure because of that ‘full package’ that we were talking about if I may call it so; thus implying that I am but a mere rebound,” she remarked.

Fortunately, her fiancé promptly intervened, asking his mother to stop and leave. Despite this, he asked her to understand and let his mother attend, as Henry really wanted her there.

He suggested ignoring his mom’s complaints to avoid a fuss, even if it meant inviting his ex.

Her frustration is mounting because she definitely does not want Henry’s ex present. However, she’s conflict about whether to let it go to maintain peace.

Should you invite your partner’s ex to your wedding? And should Henry confront his mother?
